Sky Eats Airplane just announced that they will be embarking on their first ever headlining tour throughout the United States. While on tour, they will be stopping in southern California to put on two shows. The first show is in Bakersfield at the Dome on Thursday, June 18th. The second show is on Friday, June 19th at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Both shows cost $12 and doors open at 7 PM. Opening for them are In Fear and Faith, Eyes Set To Kill and The World Alive. Dark-Wave Duo She Wants Revenge will be performing at the Glasshouse in Pomona on Thursday, June 11. Tickets for the show are $20 and can be purchased at The Glasshouse Record Store with no additional charges. Kentucky based post-hardcore group, Emarosa is doing a headlining show at the Glasshouse in Pomona on Saturday, June 27th. Emarosa is notable for now being fronted by Johnny Craig the former vocalist for Dance Gavin Dance. Craig joined Emarosa in 2007 and released their debut album "Relativity" in 2008 on Rise Records. Opening for Emarosa at the Glasshouse are some up and coming acts in the post-hardcore scene such as In Fear and Faith and Our Last Night along with a few other bands. Saturday May 2nd is the 2009 SoCal Rock Revolution Music Festival. This event features over 60 local and independent bands as well as some well known groups such as Story of the Year, Escape The Fate and Bullets and Octane. The festival is being held at Irvine Lake in Irvine. The address is 4621 Santiago Canyon Rd. Silverado Ca, 92676. Doors open at 10 AM with the first acts going on at 11. The entire slew or performances goes on non stop throughout the day and does not end until 10 that night. The show is all ages and tickets cost $30. The 2009 Vans Warped Tour is coming to Southern California two times this summer. The first date is on Friday June 26th at the Pomona Fairplex. The second date is on Sunday August 23rd at the Home Depot Center in LA. Some of the bands featured for both of these dates are Saosin, Underoath, NOFX, The Devil Wears Prada and Bad Religeon. Independent hip-hop group The District will be performing live on Wednesday, April 22nd. For those unfamiliar with them, The district is a hip-hop super group from 92' Family Ent. featuring the founders Madd Doc, C-kwence Tha Kid and Salute The Gawd. Two twin brothers and their cousin set out on taking over the hip-hop/rap scene by dropping independent record, producing their own beats and supporting other indie artists. Canadian Synth Rock group, The Birthday Massacre is currently embarking on a full US tour. The California dates have yet to be announced but when they do, they will be available for a discounted price in advance through their website. For those unfamililar with The Birthday Massacre, they are female fronted gothic influenced synth rock band from Toronto, Canada. The have released three full length albums, "Nothing and Nowhere," "Violet" and their most recent album, "Walking With Strangers." The are in the process of working on their next full length and are releasing a live CD this year entitled "Show and Tell" that will include a DVD as well. Horror Punk outfit Johnny B. Morbid is coming out with a new album this year. For today and today only, they are offering a chance to listen to the entire album via Myspace. This will be the first time anyone other than the band has heard the new tunes. For those unfamiliar with Johnny B. Morbid, they were originally a one man act consisting of Johnny B. Morbid but are now a full band. The have released four full length albums and are up and coming in the horror punk scene. Social Distortion will be headlining a special benefit concert for surfer Jay Thomas we suffered a spinal chord injury last month.  He is expected to make a full recovery, however, he has had to have two surgery's and still has a ways to go to get there.  The show is on Monday, May 18th at the House of Blues in Anaheim. LA based indie rock band, Silversun Pickups second full length album is in stores today. The long awaited followup to their 2006 success "Carnavas" is entitled "Swoon." The album features ten new tracks that complement the sound that got them big but also have them trying out new things by throwing in some more faster paced songs. "Swoon" is available at all major music stores such as Best Buy for $9.99 and is also available on Itunes for $10.99. Post-Hardcore locals, LoveHateHero are going to be performing this Saturday at the Nitty Gritty in Rancho Cucamonga.  Tickets are 10$ and doors open at 7 PM.  LoveHateHero blends the post-hardcore sound with pop-punk for a more energetic less angry in your face sound that has become pretty popular in the hardcore scene. They already have two full length albums out and have also just completed their next record entitled "Fight or Flight" which is going to be in stores sometime in 2009. April 18th is Record Store Day, which is the one day throughout the year that independent record store owners and artists celebrate music.   Record Store Day was conceived in 2007, Participating artists will do special performances or release limited edition vinyls and CD's. Participating record stores will offer promotion products limited to just this one day.  One of the bands taking part in Record Store Day is Taking Back Sunday.  To celebrate this day, they are going to release a limited edition 7" vinyl featuring the song "Carpathia" which is a new track from their forthcoming album "New Again" that will be in stores June 2nd.  The B-side to the vinyl is a live version of another new song "Catholic Knees."  The vinyl will only be available at participating record stores, to find out more information on Record Store Day as well as which stores in your area are participating, click here.

Seattle Indie-Rock group, Death Cab For Cutie has a new EP out entitled "The Open Door EP." The extended play features four previously unreleased tracks and one demo of the song "Talking Bird" which was a song off of thier 2008 full length album "Narrow Stairs." The four new tracks were recorded during the "Narrow Stairs" sessions but did not make the final cut of the album. Dark Wave Duo, She Wants Revenge will be doing a very special performance on Friday April 24th. Oceana, an up and coming expiremental hardcore band from Florida who released their debut album, "The Tide" in 2008 has just finished recording their latest release. Their second full length is titled "Birth Eater" and features their new frontman, Brennan Taulbee. From listening to the tracks already released from "Birth Eater" it is safe to say that Oceana is taking strides in the right direction. In a scene littered with bands ripping off one another's sound to try and make it big by riding the fame of others, it is refreshing to hear a band take a well known sound and make it there own. If you didn't get a chance to see Taking Back Sunday at the Bamboozle Festival last sunday, then you missed out on one amazing and explosive performance by one of the biggest names in the alternative/emo scene. For forty minutes, TBS destroyed the main stage with songs spanning their previous releases as well as few from their forthcoming album, "New Again." The good news, if you did miss out is that they will be returning to The Grove in Anaheim on June 3rd and the Soma Arena in San Diego on June 5th. Tickets are not on sale yet, but will be shortly. It was just announced that Pennsylvania Indie rock group, Mewithoutyou are going to be performing at The Glasshouse in Pomona.  The show is on Sunday, June 21.  Tickets cost $13 before the day of the show and $15 the day of the show.  Tickets can be purchased at The Glasshouse record store or on Ticketmaster here,  I recommend picking them up at the record store because Ticketmaster will be a lot more expensive.  Opening for Mewithoutyou are The Dear Hunter and Bear Colony.  For more information on Mewithoutyou click here.

Heavy-Metal alumni, Metallica are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this Saturday.  They have asked their former bassist Jason Newsted to participate in the hall of fame ceremonial performance.  Newsted joined the band in 1986 replacing their former bassist, Cliff Burton who passed away in a devastating tour bus accident.   He was part of what is known as "the Black Album line up" referring to their highly successful 1996 self titled release that shot them from being another heavy-metal band to highly respected superstars.  Newsted left the band in 2001 to pursue his other musical interests.  For more info on Metallica, click here.  For more info on what Jason Newsted is up, to click here.

The Bamboozle Left music festival announced it's set times for the full two-day lineup yesterday. If you have tickets, click here so that you can plan your days out and not miss any of the bands your going for. The festival is this weekend, April 4th and 5th at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine. Some of the bands on the set list are Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, The Used, The Get Up Kids and many more. If you have not purchased tickets, VIP and Two-day passes are sold out but single day passes are still available. Single day tickets cost $47.50 for each day and tickets for Saturday and Sunday are still available.
