Four Year Strong Do the 90's

Four Year Strong recently released a new full length entitled "Explains it All." The new album consists of covers from some of the band members favorite songs from the 90's. Many times when a band does a cover, it ends up sounding the same as the original but with a different vocalist. This is not the case for any of the songs off of "Explains It All." Four Year Strong did a great job at taking these well known 90's hits and converting them into melodic hardcore songs of their own. Some of the songs featured on the the album are Spiderwebs by No Doubt, Semi-charmed Kind of Life by Third Eye Blind and Absolutely (Story of a Girl) by Nine Days. The Used have finished recording their next album and have a release date set for Sept. 1. The new release is entitled "Artwork" and marks their fourth full length studio album since there formation in 2001. "Artwork" will feature 11 new tracks, with the first track "Blood on my Hands" being the first single. As a promotion for the new release, the used is offering a special limited edition pre-order bundle. The bundle features a special edition version of "Artwork" that comes with a bonus DVD and a 20 page booklet. Also included in the bundle is a poster signed by the band, a t-shirt that is only available through the pre-order and a digital download of two b-side songs. Punk rock group, Set Your Goals has a new full length out entitled "This Will Be the Death of Us." There sophomore album which hit stores last Tuesday, is their debut release from their new label Epitaph Records. The Record features twelve new tracks of in your face melodic hardcore with guest vocals from other faces in the scene such as Hayley Williams of Paramore and Vinnie Caruana of I Am the Avalanche. Meet August Burns Red...

Metalcore group, August Burns Red released their latest record on July 14. The album is entitled "Constellations." August Burns Red has been touring America throughout the summer in support of this latest release with opening acts from Enter Shikari and BlesstheFall. Today August Burns Red is doing a promotion with The Glasshouse Record store. The first 100 people to purchase "Constellations" will receive a wristband that allows them to meet the band. The meet and greet will be held at the Glasshouse Record Store at 2 PM today. The Glasshouse Record store is located two doors down from the venue. Killswitch Engage...

Metalcore band Killswitch Engage released their fifth full-length album on June 30. The new record entitled "Killswitch Engage," takes a step away from the fast and heavy sound heard in their 2006 release "As Daylight Dies" and moves towards a more melodic metalcore feel, somewhat reminiscent of songs such as "My Curse" and "The End of Heartache." The new album features 11 new tracks and also comes in a special edition version that contains five extra songs. The first official single is the second track of the album, "Starting Over." A video for the song has already been shot and released for circulation. "Starting Over" was a good choice because it encompasses the overall sound of the new record and gives cautious buyers a good taste of what is in store for them. With each release from their 2004 debut album with a new front man to their much anticipated 2009 release, Killswitchs growth is very apparent. They are a band that is open to trying new things and refuses to stay frozen in the same exact sound that got them big. Brand New is coming to So Cal....

New York based alternative rock band, Brand New will be embarking on a small US tour this summer. The will be stopping in Southern California at the end of their tour for two shows. The first show is in West Hollywood on Saturday, July 18 at the Troubadour. The second show is in San Diego on Sunday, July 19th at the Epicentre. Tickets for each show are $29 plus Ticketmaster fees and go on sale tomorrow (June 10) at 1 PM. Tickets for the Hollywood show can be found here. Tickets to the San Diego can be purchased here. Metalcore band, Eyes Set to Kill released their second full length album last Tuesday. The new record is entitled "The World Outside" and features 12 new tracks. Something to note about their new release is that one of the new songs (Deadly Weapons) has a guest appearance from Craig Mabbitt of Escape the Fate. "The World Outside" can be found in all major and independent music stores as well as via Itunes. Eyes Set to Kill is currently on tour with Sky Eats Airplane in support of their latest release. Last year Tiger put on a three day event southern California entitled "OctoberFlame", it occurred the last three days of October. Tiger Army is returning to So Cal again this year for their second annual OctoberFlame. The first show is on Friday October 23 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles with The CreepShow Opening. The second show is on Friday October 30 at the Grove of Anaheim with an opening performance from 45 Grave. The final performance is on October 31 at the Grove of Anaheim with the opening act still to be announced. Live Nation Makes Another Announcement...

Live Nation is the primary competitor against Ticketmaster in concert ticket sales. They are known for offering tickets with cheaper service fees than Ticketmaster. Today they made an announcement stating that beginning Wednesday, June 3, every Wednesday Live Nation will offer a certain amount of lawn tickets to some of this summers hottest concerts with no additional fees. Meaning that every Wednesday, fans can purchase tickets to some of their favorite bands for the exact price of the ticket with free shipping. Live Nation stated in their press release that they wanted concerts to be more affordable for fans who are having trouble financially in these harsh economic times. Bands such as Blink 182, The Killers, The Fray and many others have already agreed to participate in what is being called "No Service Fee Wednesdays." For more info, click here.

The new release features 15 brand new tracks with a sound somewhat reminiscent of their older tunes from the 90's. Beginning july 24th, Blink 182 will embark on their summer reunion tour. They will be playing the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine on Thursday, September 17. Tickets for the show do not go on sale until this Saturday, however, you can get your tickets tomorrow via KROQ's pre-sale. At 10 AM tomorrow click here and type in KROQBONEVILLE as the password. Ticket prices vary from $20 to $63 depending on where you want to sit. The $20 tickets are for lawn seats and have no extra charges attached to them. In honor of their first headlining tour, entitled "The New Nu Metal Tour." Electronica Metalcore group, Sky Eats Airplane has covered Limp Bizkits' 90's hit "Nookie." The cover was put up on their Myspace this past week. They explained via Myspace, that they chose to cover a Numetal song in honor of the tour name and that they chose "Nookie" because most of the band grew up listening to Limp Bizkit and other Numetal bands. The cover will only be available to stream through their Myspace and they have announced that they will be performing it on their current tour. Post-hardcore locals, A Static Lullaby will be playing a free show on Wednesday, May 27 at the SlideBar in downtown Fullerton. The show is completely free and starts at 8 PM. Due to to it being at a bar, the show is for ages 21 and over. Sharing the stage with A Static Lullaby is Run Lola Run and Cromwell. It is uncertain how many people the Slidebar will be letting in, so arriving a little early would be advised. Pop-Punk Alumni, Blink-182 is getting back into the swing of things with a new record on the way and reunion summer tour. Tour dates have not been announced yet, however; there is some news. The tour will begin on July 24th in Las Vegas and cover all of North America throughout the summer. Tickets for the tour will be available through LiveNation on May 30th. If you aren't familiar with Cursive, they are an indie band from Nebraska that have been around since the late 90's. So Cal Rock Revolution

Yesterday was the So Cal Rock Revolution music festival at Irvine Lake in Silverado. The festival featured many local and independent acts as well as a few more established groups in the alternative scene such as Escape the Fate, Story of the Year and Bullets N Octane. The event began at 10 AM and consisted of seven stages for the local acts and one main stage. Every hour featured a slew of new artists on each stage. Throughout the day the local stages were littered with no name bands playing their best to try and attract the people walking by. Some of the noteworthy acts I was able to catch were Abused Romance, HellBroken, Bring Forth the Lies and One Last Look. The main stage featured many notable acts such as I:Alive and Frank Doll and the Broken Toys. The Headlining acts Escape the Fate and Story of the year stole the show. Escape the Fate is playing with a new vocalist (Craig Mabbitt) and just recently released a new record with him, they played songs spanning both of their full length albums. Mabbitt stays true to the Escape the Fate sound but adds his own personal touch making it a show not worth missing. Story of the Year put on a fun and energetic performance with their catchy tunes, in your face presence and humorous sayings in between each song. They played songs of there recent 2008 release "The Black Swan" as well as songs spanning their whole discography. The performances were great; however the venue was sub par. The front gate had one security guard checking people in which made the entrance line quite long. There were porta-potties just like at most festivals, but there were no sinks or ways of washing your hands offered. I would recommend attending the next So Cal Rock Revolution but only if major changes are had.

Coldplay just announced that starting May 15th they will be giving away a free live CD at all of their remaining tour dates. The live album is entitled "LeftRightLeftRightLeft" and will feature 9 live tracks. Each person attending any of the remaining shows after May 15th will receive a copy. Emarosa is notable for now being fronted by Johnny Craig the former vocalist for Dance Gavin Dance. Craig joined Emarosa in 2007 and released their debut album "Relativity" in 2008 on Rise Records. Opening for Emarosa at the Glasshouse are some up and coming acts in the post-hardcore scene such as In Fear and Faith and Our Last Night along with a few other bands. The 2009 Vans Warped Tour is coming to Southern California two times this summer. The first date is on Friday June 26th at the Pomona Fairplex. Independent hip-hop group The District will be performing live on Wednesday, April 22nd. For those unfamiliar with them, The district is a hip-hop super group from 92' Family Ent. featuring the founders Madd Doc, C-kwence Tha Kid and Salute The Gawd. Two twin brothers and their cousin set out on taking over the hip-hop/rap scene by dropping independent record, producing their own beats and supporting other indie artists. Social Distortion will be headlining a special benefit concert for surfer Jay Thomas we suffered a spinal chord injury last month. He is expected to make a full recovery, however, he has had to have two surgery's and still has a ways to go to get there. The show is on Monday, May 18th at the House of Blues in Anaheim. April 18th is Record Store Day, which is the one day throughout the year that independent record store owners and artists celebrate music. Record Store Day was conceived in 2007, Participating artists will do special performances or release limited edition vinyls and CD's. Participating record stores will offer promotion products limited to just this one day. One of the bands taking part in Record Store Day is Taking Back Sunday. To celebrate this day, they are going to release a limited edition 7" vinyl featuring the song "Carpathia" which is a new track from their forthcoming album "New Again" that will be in stores June 2nd. The B-side to the vinyl is a live version of another new song "Catholic Knees." Oceana, an up and coming expiremental hardcore band from Florida who released their debut album, "The Tide" in 2008 has just finished recording their latest release. Their second full length is titled "Birth Eater" and features their new frontman, Brennan Taulbee. From listening to the tracks already released from "Birth Eater" it is safe to say that Oceana is taking strides in the right direction. In a scene littered with bands ripping off one another's sound to try and make it big by riding the fame of others, it is refreshing to hear a band take a well known sound and make it there own. If you didn't get a chance to see Taking Back Sunday at the Bamboozle Festival last sunday, then you missed out on one amazing and explosive performance by one of the biggest names in the alternative/emo scene. For forty minutes, TBS destroyed the main stage with songs spanning their previous releases as well as few from their forthcoming album, "New Again." The good news, if you did miss out is that they will be returning to The Grove in Anaheim on June 3rd and the Soma Arena in San Diego on June 5th. Tickets are not on sale yet, but will be shortly. It was just announced that Pennsylvania Indie rock group, Mewithoutyou are going to be performing at The Glasshouse in Pomona. The show is on Sunday, June 21. Metallica reunites with former bassist...

Heavy-Metal alumni, Metallica are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this Saturday. They have asked their former bassist Jason Newsted to participate in the hall of fame ceremonial performance. Newsted joined the band in 1986 replacing their former bassist, Cliff Burton who passed away in a devastating tour bus accident. He was part of what is known as "the Black Album line up" referring to their highly successful 1996 self titled release that shot them from being another heavy-metal band to highly respected superstars. "A Shipwreck in the Sand" the fourth album from Canadian Post-hardcore group Silverstein is in stores today. The new record features 14 new tracks and is available in several different editions. You can get the normal CD at your local music shop for $9.99 or there is also a special edition available at some music stores and online for $12.99. The special edition comes in different packaging and includes a DVD. There is also the limited Deluxe edition which is only available through Victory Records website. Vans yearly music festival, Warped Tour will be making a few Southern California stops this summer. The first show is at the Pomona Fairplex on June 26th. Indie Rock outfit, Tegan & Sara are releasing a VERY limited edition T-shirt. The design for the shirt is competely different than the usual ones they release. Apparently, while on tour in Australia, Tegan and Sara were confronted by artist Glenno Smith who mostly designs shirts for hardcore bands. He presented them with a unique design and they decided to release it for a very limited run. The Bamboozle Left music festival is coming up next weekend. I recently did a post announcing that Depeche Mode is doing a full US tour in support of their new album, "Sounds of the Universe" which hits stores April 20th. They will be performing Wednesday, August 19th at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Ticket prices vary from $49 to $99 depending on where you would like to sit with additional fees from Ticketmaster. Tickets for the Anaheim show do not go on sale until Monday, March 30th at 10 PM. There is a special KROQ pre-sale that starts at 10 AM this Friday, March 30th and ends at 10 PM the same day. Old school pop-punkers, The Offspring are heading out for another full US tour entitled "Shit is Fucked Up Tour". They will be stopping in So Cal to play a show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on Friday, June 5th. The opening acts are Alkaline Trio and Street Dogs. Ticket prices range from $29.50 to $49.50 depending on where you want to sit plus a service fee but are being sold through Live Nation who offers cheeper service charges than Ticketmaster. Tickets for the event do not go on sale until Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 AM, however; you can get your tickets through pre-sale March 26th, which is this Thursday at 10:00 AM. In 1999, Jimmy Eat World released the album "Clarity", which to this day is still praised as their best release by many of their fans. This album was the first release from them to have their current vocalist Jim Adkins as the lead vocalist as opposed to their current guitarist, Tom Linton who had sang lead on all of their previous releases. "Clarity" featured 13 tracks of heartfelt vocals heavily drenched in the 90's Emo sound. It was one of those underated albums in the mainstream that has and will continue to stand the test of time in the indie/emo scene. "Clarity" is available at most music stores and Itunes, this album isn't one that needs to grow on you, it's one that hits your heart right at about the same time it hits your ears. Recently, Jimmy Eat World played ten shows in which they played "Clarity" in it's entirety in celebration of its ten year anniversary. Sum 41, The Pop-Punk superstars from Canada are currently working on a new album and a new tour as well. To wet the appetite of anxious fans awaiting the new things coming up, Sum 41 has released a greatest hits compilation. The album is entitled "All the Good Shit" and features singles from their past four studio albums as well as one brand new exclusive track. Some of the noteworthy songs featured are the ever contagious anthemic song that got them their start, "Fat Lip", "Pieces", "Still Waiting" and of course the previously unreleased track "Always". Sum 41 is one of those bands that puts out so many addicting tracks that one would deem it very difficult to compose a 16 track greatest hits record. "All the Good Shit" is good for someone looking to taste what Sum 41 has to offer but is merely just that, a taste. In 1982, The Misfits, The band famous for blending Punk rock and Horror movie imagery released their first full length album. "Walk Among Us" hit record store shelves in March. The album collected many of their fan favorite songs that they had been playing for over three years. Many of these songs could only be found on hand made singles that the band put out themselves. The Misfits remixed and rerecorded many of the songs for the full length since the band was being backed and released through a label. "Walk Among Us" is one of those old punk albums that fails to get old no matter how many times one hears it. The Misfits started a trend of music many years ago and with bands like Blitzkid, Order of the Fly and Wednesday 13, that trend is still standing strong. "Walk Among Us" was a huge influence on the scene of today and is a must have for any fan of that sound.

Every Year, Fearless Records releases a compilation CD of various well known acts in the Pop-Punk, Emo and Post-Hardcore scene. Each compilation has a theme that the featured bands follow, for example last year the compilation was called "Punk Goes Crunk" and every band on the album covered famous Hip-Hop songs. A few years ago, Fearless released "Punk Goes Pop" where all the bands covered famous pop songs. This years release is the long awaited sequel to that album,entitled "Punk Goes Pop: Volume 2" where a new batch of bands in the alternative scene cover many famous Pop songs. Some of the songs featured are The Fray's "Over My Head" covered by A Day To Remember, One Republic's "Apologize" covered by Silverstein and Britney Spears "Toxic" by A Static Lullaby. All of the covers on the album are done really well. It is fun to hear what each artists has done to these already well know songs to make them completely new and of the sound of their genre. "Pop Goes Punk Volume:2" is available in all major music stores now and is also on Itunes for around the very low price of $9.99.

Hip-Hop Just Got a Facelift....

C-Kwence Tha Kid, a local rapper and beats producer from Chino Hills is spitting songs worthy of being bumped on everyone's system, He recently sent me a copy of his current release, "Supply & Demand: Vol. 1." C-Kwence has been in the music scene for some time now. With just one listen of his latest album, you will be able to hear through his music that he is not just another face in the scene but one who is standing on top of the PA awaiting his chance to blow up in your face. We live in a time where the hip-hop/rap scene is littered with different artists singing the same song. Whether it be I shot him, he shot me or I got her and whole bunch of money, much of the major talent is afraid to change the sound. This is not the case with the songs dropped by C-Kwence are on a more personal level and give the listener some insight on the kind of person that he is. The legendary Depeche Mode has recently been in the studio working on what will be their 12th full length release. "Sounds of the Universe" will be hitting stores in North America on April 21st. In support of their latest addition, Depeche mode has announced the North American dates for their "Tour of the Universe" worldwide tour. They will be playing two shows in LA at the Hollywood Bowl. Tomorrow New Found Glory's latest gem will hit the stores. Their new album is entitled "Not Without a Fight" and was produced by the infamous bassist for Blink-182, Mark Hoppus. I was able to get an advance copy of "Not Without a Fight" and have been listening to it all day. With its catchy and fast deliverance of Punk rock, this album brings the fans back to the old days of New Found Glory, back to the days that made people fall in love with them. I highly recommend picking this one up. It will be available at all music retail stores for about $9.99. You won't be disappointed. Once a week, from now on I will be doing a very special "Blast From The Past" post where I review an album from an old school band in the music scene. There have been many amazing bands throughout history, some that heavily influenced the sound of today and some that never got mainstream play but still deserve to be on everyones playlist. So in that respect, "Blast From The Past" will come up once a week.

Throughout the 90's there was a huge wave of Emo and melodic hardcore music, this sound was much different than that of today. One of the most influential bands from the early melodic hardcore scene was a group from New Jersey called Lifetime. In 1997 Lifetime broke up but not before they released their third album, "Jerseys Best Dancers" which was twelve tracks of hard hitting, glass half-full melodic hardcore. Lifetime knew how to hit their fans with the hardcore sound but with providing a more positive feel. This sound was very different and new compared to the other hardcore acts in the scene who were simply delivering raw angry hardcore music. Lifetime is in an amazing band and by giving it a listen, you can hear the roots this band planted which then grew into the sound crafted by bands like The Movielife, Senses Fail and A Day to Remember. The Get-Up Kids have added another reunion show!

The Get-Up Kids just announced that they will be doing another Southern California reunion show. The gig will be held at The Troubadour venue in Los Angeles on Friday April 3rd. Tickets are $26.00 or you can pay $40.00 for the ticket and get a limited edition t-shirt with a surprise design but only if you get the ticket through pre-order which can be done here. The show is all ages and doors open at 8:00 P.M.. Since this event is pretty momentous in the music scene, it is going to sell out fast, so getting your tickets ASAP would be wise. One of the most influential bands in the early Emo scene is reuniting for a show in Southern California. The Get-Up Kids were an early 90's Indie/Emo band from Missouri that heavily influenced the modern Emo sound. In celebration of the anniversary of their most famous release "Something To Write Home About", they will be playing as one of the headlining acts at Southern California's Bamboozle Left music festival. The Bamboozle Left is a yearly two-day festival that features live music from many different artists including Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, The Used and many more. Pop-Punk alumni, New Found Glory has a new album hitting stores on March 10th entitled "Not Without A Fight" and is currently on tour promoting this latest release. On Friday, March 27th they will be blowing up the stage of the House of Blues Anaheim with opening acts from Bayside and Set Your Goals. Blitzkid is playing in San Bernardino!

Horror-punk band Blitzkid is going to be bringing the horror on March 7th, (yes that is this Saturday) at the Mad Science Studios in San Bernardino, Ca. Also playing the show is the infamous Order of the Fly with an opening act by The Returners. Tickets are $10 at the door and the show starts around 7 P.M.. If you have never heard of Blitzkid or Order of the Fly, I highly recommend checking them out. Horror-punk is a very underrated genre and the shows are always a lot of fun. Coachella Festival is Coming Up!!!

46 days and counting to one of the biggest Indie music festivals of the year. The weekend of April 17th, Coachella Festival returns for its yearly explosion of live music. Some of the hundred plus artists playing include The Killers, Paul McCartney, The Cure and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. To enjoy the whole three day experience the cost is $269.00 or $99.00 for a single day pass. Sum 41 is playing some shows....

Pop-punk group, Sum 41 is in the process of completing a new record and while doing so has decided to play a few shows. One of them being at The Glasshouse in Pomona. The concert is being held on Sunday, March 29th and tickets are being offered for the very low price of $10. I recommend heading down to The Glasshouse Record Store and purchasing your tickets there. Tickets are selling quick so getting them soon is highly recommended. Let's start with some questions about your career with The Misfits before we'll pass over to your new band GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN!

CG: You joined The Misfits in October 1980 at the age of 16.
How did you get started in the business of music?

DOYLE: duh next

CG: Who were your major influences back in the day and who are your current influences?

DOYLE: elvis,misfits,and today...I dont know

CG: After the brief stint with The Misfits in WCW would you ever consider going back into professional wrestling to such a large scale?(WWE/TNA for example)

DOYLE: nope

Can you tell us who's the vocalist and when this demo was recorded?

CG: Why did you leave the Misfits and will you ever perform on stage with them again?

CG: How has your life changed since leaving The Misfits?

DOYLE: It hasn't.

CG: Having been at the forefront of punk/horror for the last 30 or so years, how does the genre compare itself not only to its original "golden age" but also within modern music today and why has it been survived?

DOYLE: It never lived hahaha

CG: Now let's talk about your new band GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN!
What prompted the Idea of forming this band?

DOYLE: strippers

CG: How was your 1st headlining tour with Gorgeous Frankenstein for you?

DOYLE: sucked

CG: What is it like working with another former Misfit, Dr.
Chud?

DOYLE: fun

CG: Can you tell us something about your new album? Is there any release date or a deadline as of now and will it be more punk or metal?

DOYLE: no it is what it is :)

CG: Your guitar sound has always been a defining factor of who you are as a guitarist as well as a huge statement for the bands you have been a part of.
What do you feel is the secret to creating such a memorable and recognizable sound?

DOYLE: Everyone has there own sound if everyone had the same guitar and amp everyone would still sound different.

CG: You have released your own guitar production line and a hot sauce called DOYLE'S "MADE IN HELL".

Of all the guitar companies in the world, what was it about October Guitars that compelled you to finally release a full production line of the Annihilator guitar and Devilwing bass?

DOYLE: because they wanted to

CG: In your opinion, what does your hot sauce taste at it's absolute finest alongside?

DOYLE: on eggs :)

CG: Do you have any plans to release any new Merchandise besides your Guitar line and Made In Hell Hot Sauce?

DOYLE: yep working on new things

CG: Do you plan on touring with Danzig again anytime soon?

DOYLE: I hope so!

Everyone's favorite California Pop-punk band is back! There has been much speculation on the status of Blink-182 ever since the three were reunited while visiting Travis Barker in the hospital after the plane crash that nearly killed him. Following the visit, all members were asked if a reunion was in the mist, all would claim that there was a possibility but none would confirm it. Last night at the 2009 Grammy Awards, All three reunited on stage for the first time in four years to present this years best Rock album. Before announcing the winner, Barker stated " We used to play music together, and we decided were going to play music together again." Imediatly following this statement, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus added. "Blink-182 is Back!" Blink-182's website has also been updated with a message explaining that they are back in studio working on a new album for this summer a long with a new tour. It truely is a good day, this is momentous news for all Blink fans. Check out their website here to see the new logo as well as the reunion statement. T.S.O.L. is Doing an All Ages Show Tonight!

Long Beach Punk band, T.S.O.L, is doing one all ages show tonight in Silverlake at the Echoplex. Opening for T.S.O.L. are DI, Black President and The Stranger. This is the ONLY all ages show that they will be playing for a while, check it out and bring the kids because this sure is one giant punk rock treat. Get homesick with A Day To Remember

The Florida based hardcore guys from A Day To Remember released their latest album last Tuesday. The album is entitled "Homesick" and was released through the popular post-hardcore label, Victory Records. Alternative Press expressed A Day To Remembers latest release as "The most anticipated record of 2009" and if you have ever heard them before, then you know exactly why everyone is so amped on getting some new tunes from them. As track one, "The Downfall of Us All", hits the first chorus, one can hear a resemblance to that of New Found Glory. This improved anthemic pop-punk feel that is heard on the new album is due to the fact that Chad Gilbert (Guitarist for New Found Glory) produced it. "Homesick" keeps true to the groups original sound but puts out a much more improved and produced version of it proving that teaming up with Gilbert was a very smart choice. It is hard to pick out key songs to hear for the single reason that the entire album is ear worthy. I highly recommend picking this one up as soon as possible. It is available at most Best Buy locations for $9.99 or for the same price via Itunes. A Day To Remember is also coming to the Glasshouse with The Devil Wears Prada on Friday, April 23rd. R.I.P. Lux Interior....

Lux Interior, The lead singer for the infamous Psychobilly (among other sounds) band The Cramps, passed away today due to a heart condition. He was pronounced dead sometime this morning at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, Ca. Lux and his wife/Cramps guitarists, Poison Ivy have been the only two permanent members in the Cramps history. If your unfamiliar with The Cramps, they are widely known for being the first band to blend the punk sound with the rockabilly sound which then became known today as Psychobilly. Lux will be missed by many, The Cramps and there heavily influence on punk music nor Lux himself will be forgotten. R.I.P. Lux Interior.

Danzig is Coming Back to So Cal.....

That's right, Danzig just finished up his 20th anniversary Blackest of the Black tour and has just announced that he will be returning to Southern California to put on three more shows. The first show is on Saturday, February 21st at The Majestic Ventura Theatre in Ventura Ca. Tickets for this show are $25.00 plus Ticketmaster charges and can be purchased here. The second show is on Sunday, February 22nd at the Orange County Fair & Expo in Costa Mesa, Ca. This is a festival for music and tattoos and is a whole weekend event; however, Danzig is only headlining on Sunday. By now it is probably known by most fans of the alternative music scene that one of the better radio stations to provide alternative music to the Inland Empire has recently stopped airing on the radio. Indie 103 left the airwaves two weeks ago. It was posted on their website that this was due to Indie not wanting to participate in the corporate media game. Indie may be off the air but they are still broadcasting the new and improved Indie 103 via the Internet. On January 20th Myspace Secret Shows is hosting an event with Metro Station who will be putting on a free show in San Diego. The show is being held at the Soma Venue. The address is 3350 Sports Arena Boulevard, San Diego, Ca, 92110. Millencolin is coming to So Cal...Finally....

Swedish pop-punk group, Millencolin dropped a new record last April entitled "Machine 15", since the release they have been touring the world in support of their latest release. This March, Millencolin is finally coming to Southern California to play three shows. The first show is on Friday, March 13th at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. THe second show is on Sunday March 15th at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Their third and final So Cal date is on Monday March 16th at The Brewing Company in San Luis Obispo. Old school punk band, TSOL is heading out for another tour for the months of January and Feburary. The first show of the tour is in our very own Pomona at The Glasshouse. Rap icon Ludacris is coming to Claremont, that's right I said Claremont! He is going to be putting on a performance for the Claremont Colleges at the Bridges Auditorium. The Bridges Auditorium is much smaller than most of the venues Ludacris plays, so an opportunity to see him their is one not worth missing. Mike Ness at the Glasshouse...

Last night, the legendary Mike Ness completed his solo tour with a performance at Pomona's Glasshouse. I had the privilege of attending the show. Seeing Social Distortion (Mike Ness's main band) is always a treat but being able to see him perform his solo work is something every Social D fan should experience. He opened the show with a twangy version of Social D's "Reach for the Sky" and then jumped into songs from his two solo records. Brent Harding and Johnny "two bags" Wickersham from Social D backed up Ness on guitar and bass as well as Dave Raven on drums and Chris Lawrence on pedal steel. Ness played songs spanning his solo album and his solo cover album which were both released in the late nineties as well as a couple countrified Social Distortion songs. The show not only complemented Ness's superb talent but also showed off his love and respect for the older generation of American Rock. Being able to see Ness and his band perform at such an intimate venue was a real treat as well. Next time Ness comes around, I highly recommend attending.

Taste Of Chaos 2009...

Taste Of Chaos is coming to southern California for it's fifth time. The line up for 2009 is Thursday, Bring Me The Horizon, Four Years Strong, Pierce the Veil and Cancer Bats. Myspace is hosting a free show featuring pop-punk band The All American Rejects. The concert is on Wednesday, December 17th at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim. The show is completely free and tickets are one a first come first serve basis meaning that to guarantee a ticket, you should get there pretty early to wait in line. The doors open up at 8:00 P.M. and the show goes until around 11:00 P.M. The Chain Reaction is a pretty small venue, so being able to see such a big band in that setting is pretty rare. A Coheed and Cambria Christmas Gift Idea....

A few months back, Coheed and Cambria put on a four day concert called "Neverender", where each night they performed one of their albums in its entirety. They did this a few times in different parts of the world. For those unable to attend, Coheed has announced that they will be releasing a box set entitled "Neverender: Children of the Fence" containing a DVD with the entire Neverender Performance. Included in the box set will be a CD version of the show, A DVD documentary on the band, A hardcover photo book and a Dragonfly keepsake. The box set does not release till March, however; Coheed is taking pre-orders now. If you do pre-order the box set before December 16th, The band will put your name in the thank you section of the book and the first 3,000 copies sold will be hand signed by all the members of the band.
